With summer well under way, it was great to see Outdoor Traders Cycling Club represented at the Silverstone Team Time Trial, arranged by Bicester Millenium Cycling Club, and the Didcot Phoenix Cycling Club Ben Owen Time Trial. OTCC also hosted a “Crit Camp” at Dalton Barracks and the ever popular Second Sunday of the Month club ride ventured into the Chilterns.

OTCC entered three teams in the 9up event on the Silverstone Formula One Motor Racing circuit. The Outdoor Traders Race Team were joined by the OTCC “Veterans” and “Whippersnappers”! Everyone trained hard beforehand, which resulted in some strong competition on the day! It was a splendid effort with great fun had by all. Many thanks to our friends at Bicester Millenium CC who, yet again, organised a magnificent event.

On a balmy summer evening, near Stadhampton, the club entered a ladies’ and men’s team in the Didcot Phoenix CC Ben Owen Time Trial event. The teams landed more success for the club with the ladies, represented by Tracey Prior, Daisy Brown, Elinor Spencer, Sabrina Harris and Jo Edwards, finishing in 2nd place. Congratulations to everyone who took part.

In June, the regular longer ride on the second Sunday of the month went out to the Chilterns. Taking in some breath-taking scenery, with some nice hills and a coffee stop half way round, it proved as popular as ever with club members. Thanks to Jason Atkins who created a great route, which despite a few mechanicals, was enjoyed by all.

During summer the Outdoor Traders Race Team, host a “Crit Training Camp” for club members on the airfield at Dalton Barracks in Abingdon. These sessions give club members an opportunity to improve bike handling skills and always include some group riding. This month the race team helped members practise close riding technique.

Congratulations and well done to all the riders, whether completing a challenge or taking part in an event.

If you fancy being part of this success, then please come and join us on a club ride, all riders are welcome. The rides depart from the Behind Bars in Abingdon at 7am on Saturday, 8:30am on Sunday and 6:30pm on Wednesday.
